Newcastle United Target Agrees to Four-Year Liverpool Contract

Liverpool defender Adam Lewis has agreed on a four-year contract at the club despite transfer rumours linking him with a move to fellow Premier League side Newcastle United.

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool want to tie the young defender to a long-term contract.

Premier League strugglers Newcastle United wanted to sign Adam Lewis during the recently concluded winter transfer window.

The Magpies were desperately in need of a left-back last month.

Welshman Paul Dummett is the only senior left-back in the Newcastle United squad though Matt Ritchie has played there in recent games.

Newcastle United were unable to sign Adam Lewis though Italian defender Antonio Barreca was able to join them on loan from French giants AS Monaco.

Adam Lewis is in line to become the Reds’ backup at left-back with his new contract.

Scottish national team captain Andy Robertson is the undisputed first choice in that position while second choice Alberto Moreno is expected to leave Liverpool in the summer thereby opening up the spot for the 19-year-old.

Moreno has few months left on his current deal with the Reds and he has been linked with several major European clubs like Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona, North London club Arsenal, Sevilla and French club Marseille.
