Why Arsenal were embarrassing under Wenger

Former Arsenal player Martin Keown has noted that his former side were an embarrassing team under former manager Arsene Wenger.

Keown expressed delight that the mess has been corrected under new manager Unai Emery who has corrected all the wrongs within few months in charge.

According to the Arsenal legend, his former side became a laughing stock when playing away from home because it was almost certain that they would be defeated.

Keown noted that Arsenal won only four out of their 19 away games last season which to him is a joke for a big side like the North London club.

The former player stated that the Spanish manager has been able to identify the weakness in the team and correct immediately.

Emery has since settled well as Arsenal manager, recording 11 straight wins after his first two defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea respectively.

Keown says the manager has been able to change the mentality of the players and have them dip deeper in the way the former manager could not.

The Gunners defeated Sporting CP by 1-0 away before to clinch their 11th win in a row and they seek to make it 12 against Crystal Palace on Sunday in the Premier League game.
