How Arsenal will lineup with Lichtsteiner in defence next season

Deal Done
Premier League giants Arsenal last month announced the signing of defender Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free after his contract with Serie A champions Juventus expired.

As previously revealed by several media sources, the 34-year-old right full-back becomes manager Unai Emery’s first intake as Arsenal boss, having taken charge of the North London club from long-serving French boss Arsene Wenger at the end of last campaign.

Greece international defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, has also joined the team from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund for a fee believed to be worth £16m.

Reinforcement necessary
The Spanish tactician is thought to want to strengthen his team with some experienced players who are set to make a meaningful impact at first-team level instantaneously, with the team’s youngsters integrated over time.

But how will Unai Emery’s starting lineup look like with the signing of Stephan Lichtsteiner?

Though the newly appointed Arsenal boss consistently used a 4-3-3 formation while in charge of French Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, he preferred the 4-2-3-1 set-up before his switch to the Ligue 1 and is expected to revert to his favoured formation at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal’s lineup next term
Goalkeeper Petr Cech is expected to continue in goal next season, with Switzerland defender and summer signing Stephan Lichtsteiner, German defender Shkodran Mustafi, Frenchman Laurent Koscielny and Spaniard Nacho Monreal at the back.

Granit Xhaka and Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsey should do well in holding midfield, with Armenian star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil and Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in attacking midfield position and Alexandre Lacazette upfront.
