EPL: Liverpool players rating vs Manchester City

The biggest game between Liverpool and Man City went down at Anfield today and ended in a goalless draw.

Man City were close to scoring a goal via a penalty kick but Riyad Mahrez lost the goal opportunity.

Man City alongside Liverpool and Chelsea are seated at the top of the EPL table.

Liverpool players were to some extent good but the defense line almost lost their grip on various occasions during the match.

Below is how Liverpool players were rated against Man City:

Alisson Becker (7): he had a difficult afternoon but made some saves, he had to face a penalty kick from Mahrez that hit the bar.

Joe Gomez (7): he was better as a center half than as a right back.

Lovren Dejan (8): he was very lucky not to earn a penalty after he challenged Sergio Aguero, he tackled Gabriel Jesus in a good way.

Virgil van Dijk (7): he almost made Liverpool lost out of points after he tackled Sane which earned Man City a penalty kick.

Andrew Robertson (7): he performed well in first half tackling Mahrez.

Gini Wijnaldum (8): the midfielder put up strong and a defensive style of football and saved Liverpool a number of times.

Jordan Henderson (7): he made some brilliant passes.

James Milner (5): started off well but was removed following a hamstring injury.

Mohammed Salah (7): he was the sharpest of the Reds forward.

Firmino (6): his performance was not great as he failed to subdue Man City defense.

Sadio Mane (6): he was kept quiet by Walker and didn’t get the space to get behind Man City.

Why Liverpool deserves to lift the 2018/19 EPL trophy
