Liverpool £100,000-a-week star not good enough to start games

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has questioned the continued involvement of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino in the Reds’ starting XI.

The Liverpool legend revealed that manager Jurgen Klopp could be forced to drop Firmino if he does not improve his form in the colours of the Reds this season.

The ex-Republic of Ireland player and manager spoke about Liverpool and Roberto Firmino via popular English media outlet The Independent.

John Aldridge also pointed out that summer signing Xerdan Shaqiri could be an able replacement for the former TSG Hoffenheim player.

Swiss international playmaker Xerdan Shaqiri has produced some impressive cameo appearances for the Reds in recent weeks.

He scored his first goal in a Liverpool shirt in their penultimate Premier League game against newly promoted outfit Cardiff City.

Shaqiri came off the bench to make a telling contribution in the 4-1 win over the Bluebirds at Anfield.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan forward signed for the Reds during the summer’s transfer window after they activated the get out clause in his contract with English Championship side Stoke City.

Shaqiri has found it hard to break the Reds’ front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah.
