Liverpool In Pole Position To Sign South American Midfielder

Liverpool are reportedly the frontrunners to sign young South American midfielder Nicolas Acevedo.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Reds are one of the teams monitoring the Uruguayan player.

Nicolas Acevedo is currently on international duty with Uruguay at the South American u-20 Championship in Chile.

It was revealed that the Premier League leaders have sent scouts to the tournament to run the rule over the player.

Ironically, Nicolas Acevedo plays his club football for Liverpool FC of Montevideo in Uruguay.

Other Premier League sides like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are also keen on the young Uruguayan player.

English Championship club Norwich City and Italian Serie A club Udinese want to sign Nicolas Acevedo as well.

The 19-year-old is a utility player that can play either in midfield or in defense.

Acevedo is expected to be in action when Uruguay face Argentina at the aforementioned South American tournament later on Thursday and Liverpool scouts will be in attendance to watch him.

The young Uruguayan player will be one for the future if the Reds can secure his transfer from his club, Liverpool FC of Montevideo.

It will be difficult for him to break into the current Liverpool midfield despite the fact that the Reds’ midfielders have been heavily criticized for their output in recent weeks.
