Liverpool Target Defensive Continuity

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has disclosed that the target is to keep his defensive players for many years following their impressive displays this season.

The Reds have been solid defensively this season which is something that’s not normally associated with the Merseyside especially during the Jurgen Klopp era which began in October 2015.

Liverpool have the best defence in the Premier League this season in what has been a turn around for the club within a short period of time.

The defence was regarded as the Reds’ weak point as late as last season but they have been able to rectify that weakness this term.

Liverpool have conceded just 19 goals in 23 Premier League games in addition to 17 clean sheets.

Ahead of the Southampton game, Klopp told reporters that he wants his defenders to stay at the club beyond this season and for many years.

Klopp and Liverpool have to win their away game with the Saints if they want to reclaim top spot from league leaders Manchester City who are in FA Cup action this weekend.

Manchester City play Brighton in the first FA Cup semifinals just days after the Citizens beat Welsh side Cardiff City 2-0 to secure top spot ahead of the final six games this term.

Liverpool will reclaim the summit if they beat Southampton.
