Former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva has stated that Arsenal can now contend for the title with the signing of Lucas Torreira in the team.
The Uruguay international joined Arsenal in the summer after a fabulous performance at the World Cup in Russia and has become a major part of the team.
Torreira has provided the steel and cover in the Arsenal middle and has been able to stabilize the North London defence, which will bring a new era to the Emirates Stadium.
Former Arsenal legend who shares the same similarity with Torreira on the pitch stated that the former Sampdoria midfielder is what Arsenal need to compete for a title.
Silva stated that he watched the player at the World Cup and he is convinced that Arsenal have finally gotten it right in that position. He added that Torreira has got the stature of a midfielder and has always positioned himself the right place.
The Brazilian therefore expressed delight with the development under new manager Unai Emery stating that it is a good thing to see the players rally round him and accept his style of play.
Meanwhile, Gilberto is one of the finest midfielder Arsenal has ever had with about 150 appearances for the Gunners. He is famous for his decent play and had a good partnership alongside Patrick Vieira.
