Why David De Gea should not be blamed for contract delay

Man United are currently sweating to secure a new deal for star goalkeeper David De Gea as it is being delayed due to the terms of the goalkeeper.

Before now, David De Gea was bent on leaving the Old Trafford as a result of a rift with former manager and he was ready to leave even if he was handed a deal that will make him the highest payed player in the world.

With the sack of the Portuguese manager, the Red Devils management had hope of retaining David De Gea but he yet did not give in until they triggered a clause in his contract which automatically extends his stay at the cub for another 12 months.

The latest report has it that the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is now ready to remain at the Old Trafford even after his contract ends but there are no talks yet with his owners because his agent Jorge Mendes is making efforts to secure a more lucrative deal for him.

According to reports, Man United are ready to offer David De Gea a deal of £350,000-weekly but his agent is making efforts to secure him a deal as huge as £375,000-weekly which the Red Devils might not be able to meet up.

However, the progress of the talks for a contract extension for David De Gea would be determined by his agent and not the Spanish goalkeeper.
