Former Liverpool striker Ian Rush has revealed that the current set of Reds players believe that they can end the club’s long wait for a league title this season.
Liverpool have not won a league title for 29 years and since the 1989/90 season.
The Reds are yet to taste Premier League glory despite their illustrious history but they have a fantastic chance to end that this season.
Liverpool are presently two points ahead of fellow title chasers Manchester City who have played a game less.
The Reds have three games left while their title rivals have four games remaining starting from the Manchester Derby meeting scheduled for Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Ian Rush talked about the keenly contested title race in a chat with popular media channel Sky Sports as he said that the Liverpool players genuinely believe that they can win the league title.
He further said that individuals win you games but the team wins you titles and that Liverpool have been functioning more as a team this season.
Liverpool were usurped at the top of the table briefly at the weekend but they were able to regain the Premier League summit on Sunday evening following their 2-0 win over hosts Cardiff City.
