Liverpool Forward Talks Up Transferl Move

Liverpool star Xerdan Shaqiri has confirmed his desire to hang up his boots with Swiss top-flight side FC Basel.

The Swiss international player talked up a potential move to boyhood club Basel in a chat with local newspaper Blink.

Shaqiri further revealed that it would be special for his parents if he makes a sensational return to FC Basel.

The former Bayern Munich and Inter Milan forward became a Liverpool player in the summer after the Reds activated the release clause in his then contract with English Championship side Stoke City.

The Reds paid the £13m release clause to secure his transfer from the Potters.

Xerdan Shaqiri suffered relegation from the Premier League at the end of the last campaign but the release clause in his Stoke City contract made his exit relatively easy and less complicated.

Before his move to Liverpool, Shaqiri was one of the best players in the Swiss squad that reached the first knockout stage of this summer’s FIFA World Cup before they were surprisingly eliminated by Sweden.

He has been an instant hit for Liverpool in his debut season.

Shaqiri has contributed immensely to the Reds’ unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign.
