Chelsea midfielder and England international, Ruben Loftus-Cheek made known his interest to leave the club in January over limited playing time.
Loftus-Cheek at the beginning of this season had rejected an offer to leave Chelsea on loan while stressing that he wanted to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place.
Well, Chelsea had gone ahead to sign Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic, who beat Ruben Loftus-Cheek to his chances in the Blues’ midfield.
Loftus-Cheek lack of playing time has affected him in the international scene as he was unable to make it to England national squad.
Unlike last season when he played at Crystal Palace on loan, the midfielder was able to make it to the English Squad that played the 2018 world cup in Russia.
This may be part of the reasons the midfielder has finally agreed to leave Chelsea on loan.
However, Chelsea former star, Michael Essien has a contrary view of the whole issue.
Essien in a recent statement advised Ruben Loftus-Cheek to stay put and fight for his place in the Blues first eleven.
The former player said Loftus-Cheek ‘has to stay at Chelsea.’
Essien acknowledged there are numerous midfielders at Chelsea but he disclosed that the England midfielder must be ready to work hard as there will always be competition at Stamford Bridge.
