Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer has berated new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri over the way he has utilised £57m summer signing Jorginho in his team this season.

Alan Shearer is the record goalscorer in the history of the Premier League with 260 goals.

He slammed Sarri while he was speaking on English news outlet The Sun.

The former footballer turned pundit was reacting to the 3-1 defeat suffered by Chelsea at the hands of London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

According to him, the former Napoli boss has relegated N’Golo Kante to an ineffective role in the Chelsea team in favour of Italian midfielder Jorginho who joined the club in the summer.

Alan Shearer believes that Kante is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and he should be the player to shield the back four rather than Jorginho who’s renowned to be a pass master.

He further revealed that the lack of defensive shield played a major role in the defeat to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

Kante has been moved further forward in midfield in the new system introduced by Sarri at the start of this season.

Chelsea and Sarri suffered their first league defeat of the season with the aforementioned result against Tottenham at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday evening.
