Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has dedicated the win over Malta to Spanish national team manager Luis Enrique.

Ex-Barcelona gaffer Luis Enrique was absent as Spain secure their second win from as many Euro 2020 qualifiers with a 2-0 away victory over Malta.

Luis Enrique missed the game due to a family issue as Roberto Moreno (his assistant) took charge of the team for the Malta game.

Alvaro Morata was the star of the show for the Spanish team as he scored a brace either side of the halftime interval to give his country a straightforward win over their opponents.

The Chelsea loanee found the back of the net just after the half-hour mark to give Spain the lead before he completed his brace in the 73rd minute.

After the game, Morata told reporters that they wanted to win the game for their manager who had to miss the game due to circumstances beyond his control.

The win ensured that Italy maintained their position as the team to beat in Group I.

Alvaro Morata has been able to revive his career in Spain following his loan move to Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid from Chelsea during the winter transfer window.

He will stay at Atletico Madrid until the end of next season with the option to make his move a permanent one.
