ARSENAL AND AARON RAMSEY YET TO REACH A NEW DEAL AS CONTRACT SAGA CONTINUES

Despite months of negotiations with Arsenal football club over new contract terms, Aaron Ramsey is yet to sign the dotted line for the London club.

The player who joined the Gunners from Cardiff City 10 years ago has racked up an impressive 333 appearances, 59 goals and 57 assists since his arrival in London helping the club to 3 FA cup wins in the last five seasons.

Manager Unai Emery made his feelings about the player known in August when he said:

“My opinion is clear, I want him to be with us. He’s the type of player I want in this team. But the contract is one thing only for the club and the player.”

It is however understood that the 27-year-old wants to double his current £110,000-a-week deal – meaning Ramsey is demanding around £220,000-a-week – but Arsenal have so far refused to meet those expectations.

With the 27-year-old Welsh talisman in the final year of his contract, Arsenal club bosses are upbeat that a deal will be finalised with the player even as some top European clubs are monitoring his contract situation. With the European transfer window set to close on the 31st of August, he may well be prized away from the Gunners if the contract saga continues to linger.

Ex Arsenal forward Paul Merson believes Ramsey should sign the dotted lines as he may not get starting shirt if he moves away from the club. He also went on to add that Ramsey needs to make a decision quickly so that Arsenal can move on as his continual contract gridlock hangs an uncertain balance at the Emirates.
