Big blow for Arsenal as star target heads to French Ligue 1

Julian Weigl

Emerging report hints that Arsenal have suffered a big blow in their pursuit of German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl following claims that the midfielder could be on his way to French Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint Germain in coming days.

This is according to a French daily newspaper La Parisien with reports that the German international could have ahead for a loan spell at Parisians with an option of making it permanent at the end of the season.

According to the report, the French Ligue 1 outfit would pay the whopping sum of €20 million for Julian Weigl which could see him reject the bid from the North London side Arsenal.

However, Borussia Dortmund are forced to release the 23-year-old central midfielder because of his drop in form which has made him out of favour at the club.

Arsenal were initially ahead of them but the latest bid from PSG could be difficult for Julian Weigl to reject because of the benefit it would be as well to the German club.

This therefore means that the Gunners will have to look elsewhere for a player as they seek to find a replacement for Wales international Aaron Ramsey whose contract with the club expires at the end of the season.
