What might be considered the deal of the January transfer window might eventually be on the verge of happening as Real Madrid’s chances of signing Chelsea forward Eden Hazard is getting closer.

After months of speculation involving the Belgium international, it now looks as though he is edging ever closer to a big move to the Bernabeu and could be a Madrid player this season.

According to a report from OkDiario, it seems a new development at Stamford Bridge has happened as Chelsea seem to have finally given up on keeping their star forward and will look to cash in on him this winter to avoid losing him on a reduced fee in the near future.

The London club have a big challenge on their hands as Hazard’s current contract is due to expire at the end of next season, meaning they run the serious risk of losing him on a free.

Hazard has often time expressed his opinion on joining Belgium team-mate Thibaut Courtois who ran down his contract to its final year before also leaving for Real in the summer, and the claim is that he can’t wait to join him at the Spanish capital.

Recent transfer speculations reveal that the Blues have started making plans for the eventual exit of the player by indicating interest in signing players who can replace the player like for like.

The 27-year-old has been with the west Londoners since 2012 and has regularly been one of their most important players, helping them to two Premier League title wins in that time, as well as winning PFA Player of the Year in 2014/15.e
