Former Champions league winners Chelsea have refused to assent to a bid of around £20m from German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The youngster is regarded as the top transfer target for the Bavarian giants in the January transfer window.

German giants, Bayern Munich stepped up their interest in the young English winger with an opening bid of £12.5m which was rejected by the Blues.

It was revealed by reputable English media outlet TalkSport that Chelsea are holding out for around £40m.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is said to be frustrated with a lack of playing time at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri and is open to the idea of kickstarting his football career elsewhere.

The player has less than two years on his current Chelsea deal that’s expected to run out at the end of the 2019/20 season.

The former European champions are hoping to replicate the successes of English talents Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson with Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Jadon Sancho has been in sensational form for German Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund this season following his move to the club in the summer of 2017.

He joined Dortmund on a free transfer from Premier League champions Manchester City.

Reiss Nelson has also impressed for German top flight side TSG Hoffenheim this season since he joined the club on loan from Arsenal.
