Liverpool’s £44 million signing not ready for Premier League challenge – report

It has been confirmed that Liverpool’s £43.7 million pound midfield signing from Monaco may not be ready for his debut anytime soon going by the utterances of the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

The player who featured in a friendly win over Torino earlier this month where he missed a penalty was confined to the bench in Liverpool’s 4-0 Premier League opening day win against West Ham. Since then the 25-year-old Brazilian international has not been listed for other encounters.

The former Monaco man has admitted that he is yet to adapt to the three-man midfield which Klopp tends to favour.

‘I’m aware it’s a different playing style than Monaco,’ He noted. “There were two in midfield there whereas here at Liverpool there’s usually three.

‘My midfield partners have provided me with guidance and assistance. So have the defence.

Before the match against Brighton & Hove Albion, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the player once again failed to make the cut because he was still adjusting to the system at Liverpool and not due to fitness concerns as already speculated in some quarters. The coach said: ‘It is about players understanding the position and who else is available as well,’

Otherwise Fabinho would have been involved in the squad, as he was in the first week.

‘That is it. It is different football to what he is used to but he is improving already with big steps.’

Fabinho who can play as a defensive midfielder, right back or a central midfielder has made a total of 264 appearances for club and country with 33 goals to his name. The Reds will certainly be counting on his experience and versatility in their quest to lift the Premier League crown this season.
