New Arsenal signing, Matteo Guendouzi is well known to former Arsenal forward Jeremie Aliadiere but he can’t explain his shock at the player’s rapid exploit at the club.

Guendouzi joined the Gunners in the summer and was only recruited because of his prospect. He was a player for the future and pundits never gave him the chance to be a starter.

To the shock of everyone, the player is a first-eleven player and has started the four games so far in the season. He had caught Unai Emery’s attention right from the pre-season tour.

Former striker, Jeremie has just revealed that he was the one who recommended Arsenal to the player but joins the list of those who are shocked at the player’s blend and exploit at the club.

Aliadiere is familiar with the working of things at the Emirates having had 10 league appearances during the 2003-04 “Invincibles” campaign.

He had also played alongside Guendouzi at Lorient two years ago. So he knows the player well.

Aliadiere explained that because of the player’s ability, lots of clubs will come looking for him but he convinced the player to go to Arsenal, where he will be sure of playing time and his development.

“To be honest yes, I have been surprised. When I saw him joining the club I didn’t expect him to start straight away, I thought it would take him a bit of time to adapt but he’s such a confident lad,” Aliaidiere added

Aliadiere, who per took in the charity match between Arsenal legend and Real Madrid legend on Saturday alongside former teammates such as Jens Lehmann and Robert Pires, said the player has got a good relationship with his teammates and has been able to repay the faith of the Spaniard on him.
