Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has outlined how his side can avoid a disastrous outcome when they take on favourites and defending champions Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

In his pre-match thoughts on Friday afternoon ahead of the game, Sarri confirmed that he plans to give his players mental freedom to help them navigate the stiff challenge from the Citizens.

Maurizio Sarri and Chelsea had a disastrous encounter in their last meeting with Manchester City.

The Blues were pummeled 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium in what was their second league meeting of the season.

Chelsea had won the first meeting in the Premier League as they handed out a first league reverse of the season to Manchester City via a 2-0 win.

While analysing the two games, Maurizio Sarri said they were lucky to score on the stroke of halftime in the first game and that proved to be the turning point for a Chelsea victory.

He also narrated how they started the 6-0 game better before collapsing upon conceding an early goal.

Chelsea conceded four goals inside 30 minutes of that game.

Both teams also met in the first game of the season, Community Shield.

Manchester City won 2-0 with a pair of goals from Sergio Aguero.
