Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has concluded plans to strengthen one area of his team when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

According to The Sun, the former Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund boss wants to bolster his defense with a new defender though no name has been mentioned.

It was revealed that the German tactician wanted to strengthen his team defensively but he was unable to complete any deal in the just concluded January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp wants to cover for both Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez in the centre back positions.

Croatian World Cup star Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip are the other senior centre backs in the Liverpool team but both players have been plagued by injuries in recent weeks.

Klopp has had to deal with several injuries in the past weeks especially in defense and that has affected their title challenge in more ways than one.

The decision to send England international right-back Nathaniel Clyne to Bournemouth on loan at the start of last month has not helped matters for the Reds defensively due to the fact that first-choice options Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold have missed a lot of games with respective injuries and experienced utility player James Milner has had to fill in at right-back.
