Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the late win over Tottenham Hotspur was a relief in their quest to win the Premier League title.

Klopp told the club’s official website that emotions ran during the Spurs game and that it was important to get the win that has boosted their chances of ending a 29-year wait for a league title.

He went on to pay tribute to the Liverpool fans for their support during the three games as he added that the supporters were calm in the face of uncertainty.

Liverpool needed a 90th-minute winner to claim all three points with a 2-1 home win over Tottenham Hotspur.

Roberto Firmino gave the Reds a first-half lead that was cancelled out for Tottenham Hotspur by fellow Brazilian Lucas Moura in the second half.

The game was heading for a stalemate until Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris fumbled the ball into the net off Toby Alderweireld to hand Liverpool the points.

Jurgen Klopp also talked about their next game in the Premier League.

Liverpool travel to face Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium with the hope of getting another win against the Saints who are fighting for Premier League survival.

Klopp acknowledged the recent good form shown by Southampton before adding that his team will be ready for the challenge.
