Premier League title challengers Liverpool will have to be wary of Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski when both sides meet in the Champions League later this week.

Bayern Munich host Liverpool at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night in what’s the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.

Both sides played goalless in the first leg as the duo of Joel Matip and Fabinho were able to keep Lewandowski quiet in front of goals.

The Liverpool defenders would be looking to replicate that feat of keeping Lewandowski quiet again when the two clubs meet later this week.

Polish international star Lewandowski is the top scorer in the Champions League this season with eight goals.

He prepared for the Liverpool game by setting a new record in the German Bundesliga following his brace against VFL Wolfsburg on Saturday evening.

Robert Lewandowski moved ahead of ex-Bayern striker Claudio Pizarro as the most successful foreign scorer in the history of top-flight football in Germany with those two goals.

He has so far scored 196 league goals in his German Bundesliga career.

The Polish national team skipper has played for both Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

Bayern ended Matchweek 25 as league leaders on goal difference as a result of the thumping win over Wolfsburg.
