Joe Gomez

Premier League title challengers Liverpool have been handed a big boost in the title race following the news that key defender Joe Gomez will return to the Liverpool squad at the end of next month.

His injury status was confirmed by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp who revealed that the England international should be ready to play for Liverpool after the international break in March.

The ex-Charlton Athletic player could return for the Reds’ huge clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on March 31.

Joe Gomez is a utility player that can play as a right-back or as a central defender.

He started the season well as the perfect partner for Virgil Van Dijk before he suffered a leg fracture in the win over Burnley in December.

Liverpool came from behind to beat the Clarets 3-1 at Turf Moor but the win came at a cost following the injury to Joe Gomez.

In his absence, Liverpool stormed clear at the top of the table but they have been pegged back by champions Manchester City.

Liverpool are just one point ahead of holders Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title with eleven games left to play for the two major title contenders.
