Premier League leaders Liverpool have joined the race to sign highly-rated Ajax Amsterdam attacker David Neres according to widespread reports in the media.

Goal revealed that the Merseysiders are surprisingly interested in a move for the Brazilian player.

David Neres has caught the eye with a series of impressive performances for his Dutch Eredivisie side this term, especially in the Champions League.

The 22-year-old was in devastating form as he scored one of the goals in a 4-1 win over Real Madrid in the second leg of their last 16 tie in the Champions League last month.

David Neres and Ajax knocked out the holders 5-3 on aggregate to secure a quarterfinal berth against Italian champions Juventus.

The Brazilian was on hand to net the equaliser for Ajax in their 1-1 draw against Juventus in their quarterfinal first leg clash.

Neres scored the equaliser seconds into the second half after Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo had given the Old Lady a first-half lead.

The Brazilian is expected to play a key role for Ajax again in the second leg scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

Apart from Liverpool, other European clubs like French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund are also interested in him.
