Liverpool suffer heavy injury blow, defender will not return until mid-October as injury gets worse

Latest update on the injury of Liverpool defender and Croatia international, Dejan Lovren made it known that he would not be returning to Anfield after the international holiday as expected.

The report added that the defender will not resume until mid-October as his stomach injury is very severe.

This is, however, a big blow to Jurgen Klopp led Liverpool Squad as they will be facing 7 difficult matches between now and Mid October.

Liverpool had believed that Dejan Lovren will resume on time so they can rotate the defenders.

As it stands the Croatia international will miss Liverpool match against EPL rivals Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City in the coming weeks and will also miss a match with his former club Southampton at Anfield.

Apart from the EPL, the top rated defender will also miss out of the Champions League group stage games against French club Paris Saint-Germain and Italian club, Napoli.

He will also miss out of the League Cup third round tie with Chelsea this month.

This means the duo of Van Dijk and Joe Gomez will have to cover for him.
