Real Madrid have identified four players as possible replacements for skipper Sergio Ramos who is said to be ruminating over the idea of leaving the club this summer.

According to trusted Spanish newspaper AS, the reigning European champions have drawn up a four-man defensive shortlist for Sergio Ramos.

It was earlier revealed by Marca that Sergio Ramos is considering the idea of leaving Real Madrid after a disappointing season.

Liverpool target Matthijs De Ligt, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Liverpool centre back Virgil Van Dijk and Atletico Madrid star Jose Gimenez are all on the four-man transfer shortlist for the Spanish La Liga giants if the aforementioned Ramos decides to leave the club.

Ajax Amsterdam defender De Ligt has previously been linked with Liverpool as a centre back partner for Virgil Van Dijk but the likes of Manchester United and Barcelona are ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign the young Dutch international player.

Van Dijk and De Ligt have formed a potent centre back partnership for the Dutch national team and both players could reprise that role for Champions League finalists Liverpool if the Reds can pull off a deal for him.

Matthijs De Ligt recently led Ajax Amsterdam to both the league and cup titles in the top flight of Dutch football.
