Some surprises are expected from the Manchester United team in the January transfer window as some of the players could be on their way out of the club.

Chris Smalling is the latest that has been linked away from the club as his contract with the club runs out next summer and the club are yet to open talks for a new deal.

Smalling has returned to good form this season and he has been instrumental at the back for manager Jose Mourinho but there are indications that the Portuguese boss is unhappy with the player and might not be willing to keep him since they are yet to open talks with him.

No wonder, the former Chelsea boss has made it clear that he has no good options in the defence and will only go for that department in the coming January transfer window.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Smalling already held talks with the United management and wants an improved deal more than the £90,000 he currently earn per week.

It is however not sure if the Old Trafford side will be willing to hand him such a deal as they are in search of better players in the winter window.
