Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho has submitted a transfer request at the Spanish La Liga club according to the publication from Spanish media outlet El Pais.

It was revealed that the former Liverpool star submitted a transfer request at Barcelona three months ago.

Philippe Coutinho has not had the best of times since his transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona at the start of last year.

The Brazilian international has failed to nail down a starting place in the Barcelona team despite the huge financial outlay on his transfer.

Philippe Coutinho is the third most expensive player in the history of world football following his move to Barcelona during last season’s winter transfer window.

Barcelona agreed on a deal reported to be around £142m including add-ons.

The player has set his sights on leaving Barcelona this summer after failing to settle down at the Nou Camp and the feeling is mutual for senior officials at the club.

Barcelona want to sell him to raise funds for new players.

Premier League giants Chelsea could be his next destination if they manage to escape the two-window transfer ban slammed on them by FIFA.

Chelsea have submitted their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) also have an interest in the 26-year-old who will be more than delighted to link up with international teammate Neymar at club level.
