Ross Barkley

Chelsea midfielder and England international, Ross Barkley was the man of the match in yesterday game against Southampton at St Mary’s stadium.

The player had moved from being a subject of mockery and jokes to a key player in the Blues squad.

The 24-year-old Ross Barkley joined Chelsea from Everton at the sum of £15 million and since joining he has been left on the bench.

However, his moment of glory came yesterday when the coach Maurizio Sarri decided to give the England International his first starting game ahead of Matteo Kovacic.

This was perhaps a dangerous choice from Sarri but it did pay up big time during the match.

Ross Barkley created the first goal assist that was scored by Eden Hazard before he went ahead to score his first ever goal for Chelsea.

However, the English midfielder is not letting his performance against Southampton get into his head, he revealed in the latest statement that he will train harder and improve more.

He may have gotten the start against Southampton yesterday but Sarri started him to give Matteo Kovacic some rest.

On the other hand, Cesc Fabregas and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are still battling to make it to the first team on a regular basis, so there is a huge competition.
