Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson revealed that he was happy with the performance of his players during their 3-1 loss to Premier League title contenders Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The Blues welcomed their London rivals in a Premier League Matchweek 11 meeting and thereafter emerged winners as expected.

The former England manager paid tribute to his players for pushing the Blues all the way.

He talked about the performance of his players in his post-match press conference after he saw his side succumb to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the home side.

The Blues picked up the three points at stake after two goals in the space of five second-half minutes.

Chelsea had earlier taken the lead through their Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata.

The strike came in the 32nd minute and it was his fourth league goal of the new Premier League campaign.

Hodgson and his Palace team stunned the Blues with a 53rd-minute equaliser but two goals from Alvaro Morata and Pedro Rodriguez within five second-half minutes ensured that the Blues recorded a second straight league win via a 3-1 victory over their opponents.

Chelsea leapfrog title rivals Liverpool into second place on goal difference as a result of the win.
