Former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata has surprisingly been linked with a possible transfer to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.

This new report was revealed by Catalan radio station RAC1 who claimed that talks have already started between Barcelona and the representatives of the player.

The Spanish international striker Alvaro Morata is a Real Madrid Academy graduate and the latest news won’t have gone down well with fans of the European champions though it must be pointed out that talks between both parties are at the initial stage.

The goal poacher is said to favour a move back to Spain with five-time European champions Barcelona having been fed up with life at Stamford Bridge.

The 26-year-old has failed to live up to his expensive price tag since he signed for the Blues in the summer of 2017.

The player joined Chelsea from Champions League holders Real Madrid during last summer’s transfer window in a deal worth £57m.

He started his Chelsea career in impressive form as he scored goals consistently for his new team and that includes the treble he scored in the 4-0 away win over Stoke City.

Morata failed to maintain that momentum as he faded away towards the winter part of last season and the Spaniard has never recovered that early Chelsea career form till date.
