Update! Why Mourinho was only wasting his time, Alderweireld

Tottenham defender, Toby Alderweireld has claimed that Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho was only wasting his time bidding for his signature.

Alderweireld who assured Tottenham fans that he does not have the intention to leave the club said the reports from Manchester United in the summer was never his wish.

He stated that his only focus was to remain with the club and help achieve the dream of winning the league title.

It would be recalled that Alderweireld was yet to agree on a deal with his London side when the United manager, Mourinho tried to take advantage of the situation by submitting his name to Ed Woodward.

Mourinho’s inability to secure the signature of the defender in the summer has since thrown the club into crisis with the Portuguese having a face-off with the club’s chairman, Woodward.

He had lamented his shaky defence and predicted a tough season for United for not buying more defenders.

This is almost becoming a reality with Mourinho’s men losing two games in the first four games of the season.

The biggest of the losses was the 3-0 defeat suffered in the hands of Alderweireld’s team.

With this report, Mourinho will be expected to seek for other options should money be made available for him in the coming transfer window.
