Why Arsenal must get rid of Ozil, Paul Merson

Mesut Ozil

Arsenal star player and German international Mesut Ozil has longed been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium with the speculation becoming more intense this season.

The former Real Madrid player is alleged to have fallen out of favour with manager Unai Emery as a result of his inconsistent performance which has refused to improve in any way.

Mesut Ozil is also alleged to be unhappy with the manager for snubbing him most of the big games because of the lack of belief in him with big games, especially derby clashes.

Unai Emery has also noted that no player would be respected because of the wages they are paid but of the performances they put in on the pitch which Ozil cannot boast of.

However, the North London legend Paul Merson made it clear that the former Real Madrid star should not just leave because of his performance but because of the fact that Arsenal needs to get his wages off the books.

Paul Merson noted that despite receiving about £350,000-weekly, the German international does not play regularly and each time he is on the pitch, the impact is unlikely to be felt.

Meanwhile, Ozil has yet to give his reaction on all of the speculations in the press.
