Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni has revealed why Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi was left out of his squad for the upcoming friendly games later this month.

Mauro Icardi was one of the major absentees for the new squad named by Scaloni for the international friendly games against Venezuela and Morocco.

He was conspicuously missing from the 31-man squad for the aforementioned games.

Argentine manager Scaloni revealed that Icardi was left out of the squad due to his ongoing problems at Inter Milan.

Mauro Icardi has not played for Inter Milan since he was dropped as their captain last month thus raising doubts over his future at the club with major European teams like Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea ready to pounce.

The 25-year-old had earlier been linked with a move to Chelsea especially last summer when Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri was made the manager.

The big news for Scaloni and Argentina is the return of talisman Lionel Messi.

Argentine national team skipper Messi has not played for his country since the inglorious exit at last summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.

Messi and Argentina had a less than impressive World Cup campaign after they were knocked out of the aforementioned tournament via a 4-3 loss to eventual champions France in their last 16th clash.
