Liverpool Linked With £20m Transfer For 20-Year-Old Midfielder

Five-time European champions Liverpool have been linked with a move for one of the breakout stars in the German Bundesliga this season.

The Reds are keen on a deal for highly rated Schalke 04 player Weston McKennie who has been in superb form for the Champions League campaigners this season.

The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool could make a £20m for him as he has been attracting the interest of the Merseyside club with his impressive performances for Schalke 04 in the German top flight this term.

Weston McKennie is a midfielder by trade but the American player can also play in defence where Liverpool have had problems in defence.

The Reds have been injury-hit at the back due to recent injuries to the Liverpool centre back trio of Croatian World Cup star Dejan Lovren, Cameroonian international Joel Matip and young England international Joe Gomez.

Liverpool had to field last summer’s midfield acquisition, Fabinho, at centre back in their last Premier League game at Brighton.

Brazilian star Fabinho helped the Reds keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 win over hosts Brighton and Hove Albion with Mohamed Salah getting the only goal of the game from the penalty spot.
Liverpool were able to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with the victory.
