Ross Barkley

Chelse player rating vs BATE

Kepa Arrizabalaga:

Was a real bystander in the opening half of the game but made a superb save early in the game to deny Stanislav Dragun from close range.

Emerson; Struggled to really make anything happen at all down the left flank with the addition of a couple of poor crosses in the first half until he put a decent ball into the box and Olivier Giroud was there to head it home. A lot better in the second half and more precise with his play.

Gary Cahill:

Did well defensively however but had a few struggling moments.

Andreas Christensen

Like Cahill, his passing out from the back wasn’t good enough but was defensively solid for most of the game

Davide Zappacosta

Saw a lot of the ball in the first half but did nothing with it. Didn’t really threaten down the right for the first half and didn’t take many risks.

Played one lovely pass to Eden Hazard in the second half that the Belgian couldn’t gather. Apart from that, he influenced the game little.

Jorginho

Jorginho

Wasn’t his best game for the blues to the extent he was getting quite frustrated at times in the middle with the lack of space for him to work in, trying to force the passes for the Blues front men.

The tempo from him and the team was a little slow at times which made it more difficult for the Blues to break down BATE.

Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley

The Englishman’s performance want good enough for the headlines however he was neat and tidy on the ball when he kept it simple and had a few efforts on target from range. This was a little step up from the Crystal Palace display, but didn’t really shine again.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

The player who had earlier got his place back in the England squad didn’t really celebrate that in style as he had a pretty poor night in midfield.

Eden Hazard

eden hazard

The Chelsea fans were delighted to see him back on the pitch of play after a long spell out through injuries but it was a difficult night for him. BATE made it tough and gave him little space, while he just couldn’t make things really happen.

Pedro

Pedro

Had a a woeful performance, sometimes too slow when he had the ball, sloppy passes and misdirected shots were the summation of his performance tonight.

Olivier Giroud

olivier giroud

Scored his first goal for Chelsea since May and 794 minutes of action, which means the Frenchman might just have opened his goal scoring account for the blues again. Not a bad overall performance by the former Arsenal man.

Willian (on for Hazard 62′)Added some inspiration to the team.
Mateo Kovacic (on for Loftus-Cheek 64′)
Should have styed on the bench.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (on for Pedro 85′)
Not enough time to shine.
